Green waste accepted at Hawaiian Earth Recycling in Wahiawa
HONOLULU — Following the closure of facilities due to Tropical Storm Lala, the City Department of Environmental Services (ENV) has reopened all city convenience centers, transfer stations and the Waimānalo Gulch Sanitary Landfill (WGSL) on Monday, August 17.
The City provides nine public refuse drop-off locations: six convenience centers and three transfer stations around the island for residents to dispose of their household rubbish, including but not limited to furniture, bulky items, large metal appliances, and green waste. Green waste drop-off is also available at Hawaiian Earth Recycling in Wahiawa. Residents are allowed two (2) loads per day at the city’s disposal sites.
Convenience Centers (hours of operation 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.)
Waimānalo: 41-241 Hihimanu Street
Wai‘anae: 85-572 Wai‘anae Valley Road
Waipahu: 94-071 Waipahu Depot Street
‘Ewa Beach: 91-1000 Geiger Road
Kapolei: 91-184 Kaomi Loop
Lāʻie: 56-020 Kamehameha Highway
Wahiawā: 71-129 Wilikina Drive *No green waste accepted
Transfer Stations
Kapa‘a – KAILUA: 100 Kapa‘a Quarry Road
Hours of operation: Monday to Friday = 10 a.m. to p.m.
Saturday and Sunday = 7 a.m. to 6p.m.
ACCEPTABLE ITEMS: Household trash, bulky items, large appliances, tires, lead-acid batteries, standalone lithium, lithium-ion, NiMH, and NiCad batteries, propane and helium tanks, butane, MAPP, fire extinguishers, non-combustible waste, and green waste.
Kawailoa – HALEIWA: 62-180 Kawailoa Road
Hours of operation: Monday to Sunday = 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
ACCEPTABLE ITEMS: Household trash, bulky items, large metal appliances, tires, lead-acid batteries, standalone lithium, lithium-ion, NiMH, and NiCad batteries, propane and helium tanks, butane, MAPP, fire extinguishers, and *green waste.
*Green waste only accepted Thursdays and Sundays
Ke‘ehi – HONOLULU: 606 Middle Street
Hours of operation: Monday to Friday = 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturday = 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Sundays = Closed
ACCEPTABLE ITEMS: Household trash, combustible bulky items, metal/metal containing items, and lead-acid batteries, standalone lithium, lithium-ion, NiMH, and NiCad batteries.
*Large metal appliances (e.g., washers, dryers, refrigerators, stoves/ranges, water heaters, etc.) are NOT accepted at this location. Also, tires and compressed gas, helium, butane, MAPP, and fire extinguishers and green waste are NOT accepted at this facility.

Curbside Collection
Regular curbside refuse collection is also continuing as scheduled. Please place your gray, blue, and green cart curbside for collection on your designated pick-up day.
If your refuse, recycling, or green compost cart was damaged during the storm, please contact ENV’s collection branch to request a repair or replacement. Residents can call 808-768-3200 or email collection@honolulu.gov with their address and a description of the damage. Crews will assess and address damaged carts as quickly as possible following the storm.
