Mayor Blangiardi appoints Tricia Dang as Deputy Director of the Office of Climate Change, Sustainability, and Resiliency

HONOLULU – Mayor Rick Blangiardi on Tuesday announced the appointment of Tricia Dang as Deputy Director of the City’s Office of Climate Change, Sustainability and Resiliency (CCSR).

In her new role, Dang will work alongside Executive Director Kealoha Fox and the talented team at CCSR to advance the City’s priorities in sustainability, climate adaptation, emissions reduction and community resilience across Oʻahu.

Dang brings more than 20 years of experience in community, land, and environmental planning, along with deep knowledge of real estate development. Through her work, she has created partnerships with government agencies, landowners and private businesses while leading projects for organizations like Keiki O Ka ʻAina, Pūlama Lāna‘i, Hawaiian Airlines and Malama Honua PCS.

Prior to joining the City, Dang worked as a senior planner and project manager at Stantec, leading environmental initiatives across Hawaiʻi and California. Her professional background includes important roles with the Polynesian Voyaging Society, McDonald’s, the Hawaiʻi Executive Conference and Kamehameha Schools.

Additionally, Dang serves as executive director for Pacific Century Fellows, one of Hawaiʻi’s premier leadership development programs.

“As someone who has worked on environmental planning both here at home and around the world, Tricia Dang brings a clear understanding of the challenges we face and the kind of collaboration it takes to solve them,” said Mayor Blangiardi. “She has a strong background in sustainability, a commitment to developing people and partnerships, and a proven ability to get things done. I’m confident she will deliver results, follow through on our commitments, and help turn our plans into real progress for our community.”

Dang is a graduate of Punahou School and earned degrees from Emory University and the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. She holds master’s degrees in Business Administration and Urban and Regional Planning. She is also a lifelong student of ʻike Hawaiʻi, shaped through her work in community spaces and mentorship from respected Hawaiian leaders.

“I am honored to serve in this role and strengthen the City’s efforts to protect our communities and care for our island home,” said Tricia Dang. “Achieving our climate goals together is crucial to the resilience and wellbeing of Oʻahu, and I am committed to accelerating critical initiatives that will benefit generations to come.”

Dang is a LEED Accredited Professional, a member of the American Planning Association, and has served on the boards of the YWCA and Urban Land Institute. The deputy director position was previously held by Kealoha Fox, who was appointed CCSR’s executive director in December.
