City to conduct smoke testing in Enchanted Lakes area April 6 to May 8

HONOLULU–The Department of Environmental Services (ENV) will be smoke testing portions of the wastewater collection system between April 6, 2026 to May 8, 2026 in the Enchanted Lakes area, weather permitting. Testing will occur during normal business hours with ENV crews present.

During the test, crews will fan non-toxic smoke into underground sewer pipes to help identify defects such as cracks, leaks or improper connections in the wastewater system. The results help the City maintain a safe and efficient sewer network.

The smoke used is non-hazardous and should not enter homes or businesses. However, smoke may enter through defective plumbing or dried drainpipes. If smoke appears inside your home or building during testing, open windows for ventilation and notify the City at (808)768-7272.

For more information on smoke testing, please contact ENV at (808) 768-7272 or visit our website
